A Series of Unfortunate Events/Birthday Party/School

A Series of Unfortunate Events

I've started reading A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning at school. Now, I'm reading the second book, The Reptile Room. It's good and a little bit scary. It's about 3 orphans that used to have a mom and dad and a nice, big house, but they had to go and live with a guy named Count Olaf because their house burned down and their parents died in the fire. In the second book, it might be a little happier, expect that so far I'm on chapter five, and they've come to live with their father's cousin's husband. He studied reptiles and he named one that he'd found on a trip he'd gone somewhere in the world (he goes to different places in the world) "The Incredibly Deadly Viper." The viper got loose, and bit their little sister, Sunny. Violet and Klaus, Sunny's brother and sister, were very worried. But their Uncle Monty just burst out laughing and explained to them that it was perfectly harmless. He named the snake that because he was going to present it to the Herpetological Society and he wanted to trick them because they always make fun of his name, Montgomery Montgomery. He was supposed to get a new assistant, and when the assistant came, Uncle Monty had left a note when he went to the supermarket saying "Be extra nice to my new assistant!" The children found out that the new assistant was Count Olaf in disguise, and Count Olaf had been mean to them! So, while the children were doing their work in the reptile room, they thought of a plan to tell Uncle Monty that his assistant was really Count Olaf. But when Violet tried, Count Olaf held up his knife so it glistened like a lighthouse in the sun, and she already knew then, that it was a warning that if she told Uncle Monty that he was Count Olaf, he would hurt her brother right then. In pictures you can't usually see the author, Lemony Snicket's face. We don't know why. But they are good books!

You should all read this series. If you already have, read it again!

Birthday Party

Yesterday, Saturday August 30, I went over to my cousin's house for two of my cousin's birthday parties. I had a fun time! I had a hot dog, Lays, a little bit of potato salad, and 2 little servings of lemon jello. Yum, yum!! Then, I had a little bit of cake a little after. I had fun until sort of the end. I had a headache when we got there, but it was just a little, little one. At the end, it grew bigger, and I didn't feel good. So, I got some Tylenol, and my mom put an ice pack on my head. When we were driving in the truck home, I hiccuped, and I felt a little better. And before I had hiccuped, I had prayed to Heavenly Father to feel a little better. And then after, I thanked Him. I had fun.

School

My teacher is awesome! She makes us work hard, but we also have fun. I wanted her. I'm glad that I could be in her class. And I especially love it when we have time to read The Series of Unfortunate Event: The Bad Beginning with the tape. I love 4th grade!

The last full week of summer vacation

Hello Magpie Gazette fans!

This week was the last full week of summer vacation. We went to the beach on Wednesday. It was fun, except that I don't like salt water that much. It's disgusting when it gets in your mouth, your nose, and your eyes. But it was fun anyways. Later that day, one of my friends called me and asked me to go and swim. I stayed there until 10:00 at night! Wowee!!
Well, anyways that was fun.
I got the teacher I wanted again! Sweet! Well Magpie Gazette fans, sorry if I'm gonna push your buttons, but that's it for today. I don't have much more to say about this week. But, I hope you come again soon! Toodle-oo!!

Catching Up

9th Birthday
I had my ninth birthday awhile ago, and it was really, really fun. I had my birthday party at a Red Dragon Karate place. We did ninja four corners, and we practiced what to do when a stranger tries to grab you. I broke two boards- it was easy! I barely touched the second one, and it broke! That's how easy it was! I got lots of gift certificates and money, which I'm still spending! I got Disney's Scene-it, lots of LPS (Littlest Pet Shop) stuff, crafts, clothes, two new Webkinz, and a bubble gun.

Swim team

Swim team ended this week. It started in April. My favorite part about swim team was the Mega-vitamins! I love jumping off the diving boards! Mega-vitamins are easy. All you do is: 1. Go to the diving boards. (You could choose either diving board to jump off) I usually went off the high diving board. 2. The coaches tell you how many mega-vitamins to do, and what stroke you're going to do in each mega-vitamin. I liked it when we got our choice. 3. Then you swim to the end of the pool, and you swim it how ever many times the coaches say to do it. Like, if they say "1", then you're done. But, if they say "3," then you have 2 more to go. YAY!

I also like it when we got to play a game at the end. Swim team wasn't my favorite because we worked hard, but I'm glad I could get in the water in a swimming pool and swim (it's my favorite sport, you know! At least for now!)

Grandma and Grandpa Camp 2008

We had fun and some not fun. (The not fun was picking peas and I wasn't really into the art but if you're reading this, Grandpa, Thank you anyways!) The fun was great! We had free time, we got to watch movies, my cousin even kissed me lots of times while we were playing Sleeping Beauty! Yech!

Let me put on my thinking cap for a minute..... hold on! I'll be back in a sec!

Ah, hah! We drew with chalk on Grandma's driveway, and then we had some glasses that we put on, and it looks 3-D! Awesome! But, the cousin that kissed me and I didn't like it when her little brother kept bothering us. At least Mom was there that time!

We went hiking, but I didn't like it that much. Whoever planned it, Grandma or Grandpa, thank you anyways though, but I'm not into hiking. I'm telling you that so you can know for next year, but my favorite part that you guys planned was... wait a sec, again!...I'm being like Sherlock Holmes right now.... thinking... ok... it just hit me... my favorite part was that Grandma and Grandpa were so nice to invite me, and they acted like they love me because they love me. That's it for this article for the Magpie Gazette! But there's more! So please stay in tune! This is YOUR newspaper! Now, it's time for me to go on to my next article:

4th Grade Starting

I'm excited for 4th grade. I don't really like the timing, because I have to stay 45 minutes extra. All the 4th graders do. And 5th. We got most of my stuff now. I got a Scooby-Doo lunch pail, a cute rolley backpack with a key chain, and my excitement. Magpie Gazette fans, I can't believe I'm this old now! And, another reason why I'm not excited for 4th grade is because I have a teacher that teaches a student that I play with sometimes, when my mom is substituting, at the teacher's room. But, then, that teacher is probably going to have to go home at 3:00, and I have to stay until 2:45. So I won't have that much time to visit her. Because if my mom is substituting 4th or 5th, she's just going to have to go on the grass until they're all gone, and then get her stuff and go home.

Magpie Gazette fans, are you ready for the next article? I thought so!

Summer Fun

My favorite thing that I have done this summer was playing with friends and going to the pool to swim. My mom said that we would go to the beach this summer. My ward at church had planned a beach party. Yay! But, when I was in primary (which is a class for kids under 12), a teacher announced that they were going to cancel the beach party because of the price of gas. Stupid gas prices! I'm doing a frown at mom right now, because she told me that we would go this summer, and there's only one week until 4th grade. :( Hmpf!! (That's for you, mom! You'd better take me to the beach! And, maybe with my friend!)

That's it for today, Magpie Gazette fans! I'm hoping you'll get me some comments. If you do, hip-hip-hooray! If not, BOOOO!
