Prop 8/Indian Camp/Halloween

Indian Camp
I had a field trip to the park and learned and made Indian stuff.  We made arrowheads, painted rocks, played Indian games, made necklaces, made baskets, ate acorn mush-YUCK!!!-and saw Indian artifacts.  I wasn't really thrilled to go, but I have to admit it was pretty fun!

Halloween

As I'm sure most of you know, Friday was Halloween.  I went Trick-or-Treating, got two bags of chips, and LOTS of candy.  (one and half pumpkins full!) And guess what?  I hit the jackpot!  I got a lot of Reese's Peanut Butter cups!  Well, anyways, I was a pioneer this year, and I went Trick-or-Treating with my friends.  There was one house with flickering blue lights that had a projector that showed scary things on it so that scary things came up on the garage door.  Also, there was this decoration when I was walking to the door that moved.  Whoa!  It was freaky!  I said "Trick-or-Treat!" and hopped to the other side of that moving guy.

Prop 8
We had a vote yes on prop 8 walk on Saturday 11/1/08.  We walked around town and held signs.  My sign said:  Prop 8 = Free Speech.  So here is my message VOTE YES ON PROP 8 TO OPEN HEAVEN'S GATE.

Walkathon, Halloween Party

Walkathon

A couple of Fridays ago was our school Walkathon.  A walkathon at our school means that you can run or walk around a little track that they prepare for you.  We do it because it's good exercise and we're raising money for our school.  We raise money by getting an envelope and you can go around to friends and family asking for pledges.  And then, they give you a date to turn in the money.  We also put the envelopes on our backs to keep track of the laps we ran.  And if we earn enough money, then something exciting will happen.  Once, we earned enough money that our school principal kissed a pig!  Yuck!  And once, she did a cheer, and this year, while we were doing the walkathon kickoff, she competed against other teachers in a tricycle race.  Boy, were those tricycles small!  It was fun!

Ward Halloween Party

Last night was our Ward Halloween Party.  I got my face painted.  I bowled with plastic pumpkins.  I got to feel creepy things. The people at the booth said that they were:  zombie brains, eyeballs, witch's hair, skeleton teeth, and witch's nails.  There was a cake walk and bobbing for apples.  My BFF did bobbing for apples, but I didn't because, well, one, there was ice in it!  And, I'm not really a big fan of not sliced apples.  But I did do the cake walk.  I love cake walks!  I did win.  I actually won my mom's cookies, but she gave away my prize to her friend!  (MOM'S NOTE:  WE STILL HAD A DOZEN AT HOME...IT'S NOT LIKE I WAS DEPRIVING THE POOR THING!!)Well, you read my mom's note.  I was just about to say that we had some at home, though.  We also went trunk-or-treating.  That's when we go around outside to car trunks that are open and saying "Trunk-or-Treat!" or some people probably said "Trick-or-Treat!"  My pumpkin was about halfway full, but I will get a lot more candy later!

Webkinz and Gymnastics

Webkinz
I have 8 Webkinz.  I have been wondering if my friend can be buddies with me on WebkinzWorld.  She had to talk to her Dad about it.  She said it was okay.  So, now I know her username and she knows mine.  WebkinzWorld Rocks!  I also have a MyEPet, but I don't really go onto that website very often.  One of my favorite games on WebkinzWorld is Hungry Hog.  It's like Pac-Man, except there's a hog and bees.

Gymnastics
I started gymnastics again.  I was in it, like when I was 3, 4, 5, or 6.  I have the same Coach.  When we get there, we have to do stretches.  We have to try to do the splits.  I'm not so thrilled about that.  Then, we can get to the fun stuff.  Bars!  You just have to swing on it, though.  I wish it were longer than 45 minutes.

Flute, GATE, Whoo-Hoo!

FLUTE
I just started to learn how to blow into the flute.  At school, we have enrichment, and I picked Band and Choir.  Choir for the first session, and Band for the second session.  I was so excited about Band that I wanted to buy my book last Wednesday, but my mom just went to look at the book.  I was very disappointed and I cried a lot.  But at least I got the flute, and I started blowing in it.  Now, well, I'm sort of bored with blowing in it.  I think I'm doing well, but Mom won't let me put the flute together and blow in the rest of it.  We actually get to start practicing the flute in band on the 22nd of September.  I just can't wait!

GATE
I started GATE last week.  (Gifted and Talented Education) GATE is very fun, but you have to pass a test and say "yes, I want to do this."  And if you're in GATE, then you get to get pulled out of class (if you're focused), and do fun things.  Sometimes even field trips that other people not in GATE can't do.  I'm glad I'm in GATE!  At first, when I heard it was GATE day, and that GATE people still have to catch up with work, I didn't really want to.  Because, really it was mostly looking up things about your ancestors or yourself, and making name tags on the computer, and decorating folders.  At least I got to use a laptop, which is awesome!

MagPie Gazette fans:
I'm very glad that you're my fan, if you are!  Oh, please, please, please write more comments to me!  I'm waiting and waiting and waiting!  If you do, HIP-HIP-HOORAY!  You don't just get a 100%, you get a 99,999,999%!  If not, Boo-Hoo!  (Unless, of course, you CAN'T type any comments!)

A Series of Unfortunate Events/Birthday Party/School

A Series of Unfortunate Events

I've started reading A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning at school. Now, I'm reading the second book, The Reptile Room. It's good and a little bit scary. It's about 3 orphans that used to have a mom and dad and a nice, big house, but they had to go and live with a guy named Count Olaf because their house burned down and their parents died in the fire. In the second book, it might be a little happier, expect that so far I'm on chapter five, and they've come to live with their father's cousin's husband. He studied reptiles and he named one that he'd found on a trip he'd gone somewhere in the world (he goes to different places in the world) "The Incredibly Deadly Viper." The viper got loose, and bit their little sister, Sunny. Violet and Klaus, Sunny's brother and sister, were very worried. But their Uncle Monty just burst out laughing and explained to them that it was perfectly harmless. He named the snake that because he was going to present it to the Herpetological Society and he wanted to trick them because they always make fun of his name, Montgomery Montgomery. He was supposed to get a new assistant, and when the assistant came, Uncle Monty had left a note when he went to the supermarket saying "Be extra nice to my new assistant!" The children found out that the new assistant was Count Olaf in disguise, and Count Olaf had been mean to them! So, while the children were doing their work in the reptile room, they thought of a plan to tell Uncle Monty that his assistant was really Count Olaf. But when Violet tried, Count Olaf held up his knife so it glistened like a lighthouse in the sun, and she already knew then, that it was a warning that if she told Uncle Monty that he was Count Olaf, he would hurt her brother right then. In pictures you can't usually see the author, Lemony Snicket's face. We don't know why. But they are good books!

You should all read this series. If you already have, read it again!

Birthday Party

Yesterday, Saturday August 30, I went over to my cousin's house for two of my cousin's birthday parties. I had a fun time! I had a hot dog, Lays, a little bit of potato salad, and 2 little servings of lemon jello. Yum, yum!! Then, I had a little bit of cake a little after. I had fun until sort of the end. I had a headache when we got there, but it was just a little, little one. At the end, it grew bigger, and I didn't feel good. So, I got some Tylenol, and my mom put an ice pack on my head. When we were driving in the truck home, I hiccuped, and I felt a little better. And before I had hiccuped, I had prayed to Heavenly Father to feel a little better. And then after, I thanked Him. I had fun.

School

My teacher is awesome! She makes us work hard, but we also have fun. I wanted her. I'm glad that I could be in her class. And I especially love it when we have time to read The Series of Unfortunate Event: The Bad Beginning with the tape. I love 4th grade!

The last full week of summer vacation

Hello Magpie Gazette fans!

This week was the last full week of summer vacation. We went to the beach on Wednesday. It was fun, except that I don't like salt water that much. It's disgusting when it gets in your mouth, your nose, and your eyes. But it was fun anyways. Later that day, one of my friends called me and asked me to go and swim. I stayed there until 10:00 at night! Wowee!!
Well, anyways that was fun.
I got the teacher I wanted again! Sweet! Well Magpie Gazette fans, sorry if I'm gonna push your buttons, but that's it for today. I don't have much more to say about this week. But, I hope you come again soon! Toodle-oo!!

Catching Up

9th Birthday
I had my ninth birthday awhile ago, and it was really, really fun. I had my birthday party at a Red Dragon Karate place. We did ninja four corners, and we practiced what to do when a stranger tries to grab you. I broke two boards- it was easy! I barely touched the second one, and it broke! That's how easy it was! I got lots of gift certificates and money, which I'm still spending! I got Disney's Scene-it, lots of LPS (Littlest Pet Shop) stuff, crafts, clothes, two new Webkinz, and a bubble gun.

Swim team

Swim team ended this week. It started in April. My favorite part about swim team was the Mega-vitamins! I love jumping off the diving boards! Mega-vitamins are easy. All you do is: 1. Go to the diving boards. (You could choose either diving board to jump off) I usually went off the high diving board. 2. The coaches tell you how many mega-vitamins to do, and what stroke you're going to do in each mega-vitamin. I liked it when we got our choice. 3. Then you swim to the end of the pool, and you swim it how ever many times the coaches say to do it. Like, if they say "1", then you're done. But, if they say "3," then you have 2 more to go. YAY!

I also like it when we got to play a game at the end. Swim team wasn't my favorite because we worked hard, but I'm glad I could get in the water in a swimming pool and swim (it's my favorite sport, you know! At least for now!)

Grandma and Grandpa Camp 2008

We had fun and some not fun. (The not fun was picking peas and I wasn't really into the art but if you're reading this, Grandpa, Thank you anyways!) The fun was great! We had free time, we got to watch movies, my cousin even kissed me lots of times while we were playing Sleeping Beauty! Yech!

Let me put on my thinking cap for a minute..... hold on! I'll be back in a sec!

Ah, hah! We drew with chalk on Grandma's driveway, and then we had some glasses that we put on, and it looks 3-D! Awesome! But, the cousin that kissed me and I didn't like it when her little brother kept bothering us. At least Mom was there that time!

We went hiking, but I didn't like it that much. Whoever planned it, Grandma or Grandpa, thank you anyways though, but I'm not into hiking. I'm telling you that so you can know for next year, but my favorite part that you guys planned was... wait a sec, again!...I'm being like Sherlock Holmes right now.... thinking... ok... it just hit me... my favorite part was that Grandma and Grandpa were so nice to invite me, and they acted like they love me because they love me. That's it for this article for the Magpie Gazette! But there's more! So please stay in tune! This is YOUR newspaper! Now, it's time for me to go on to my next article:

4th Grade Starting

I'm excited for 4th grade. I don't really like the timing, because I have to stay 45 minutes extra. All the 4th graders do. And 5th. We got most of my stuff now. I got a Scooby-Doo lunch pail, a cute rolley backpack with a key chain, and my excitement. Magpie Gazette fans, I can't believe I'm this old now! And, another reason why I'm not excited for 4th grade is because I have a teacher that teaches a student that I play with sometimes, when my mom is substituting, at the teacher's room. But, then, that teacher is probably going to have to go home at 3:00, and I have to stay until 2:45. So I won't have that much time to visit her. Because if my mom is substituting 4th or 5th, she's just going to have to go on the grass until they're all gone, and then get her stuff and go home.

Magpie Gazette fans, are you ready for the next article? I thought so!

Summer Fun

My favorite thing that I have done this summer was playing with friends and going to the pool to swim. My mom said that we would go to the beach this summer. My ward at church had planned a beach party. Yay! But, when I was in primary (which is a class for kids under 12), a teacher announced that they were going to cancel the beach party because of the price of gas. Stupid gas prices! I'm doing a frown at mom right now, because she told me that we would go this summer, and there's only one week until 4th grade. :( Hmpf!! (That's for you, mom! You'd better take me to the beach! And, maybe with my friend!)

That's it for today, Magpie Gazette fans! I'm hoping you'll get me some comments. If you do, hip-hip-hooray! If not, BOOOO!

Science project

I finished my sience project this week. I did it on the solar system. It's like a fact world. I have 3 facts for every planet. I had to paint every planet. I did Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

The Solar System
By Me

I enjoyed learning about our solar system because I learned many interesting facts about the planets surrounding us in the solar system.

Venus
1. Venus has lots of volcanoes.

2. It stinks because of thick clouds made of
acid.

3. It is Earth’s sister because they are almost the same size.

Earth

1. Earth is the only planet in the solar system that has people.

2. Earth is smaller than the sun.

3. Earth is made of metal, rocks, and water

The Sun

1. The sun is a star and is a part of the Milky Way.

2. Our sun can hold a million Earths inside of it.

3. It is the most important object in the solar system because it gives light and heat.

Uranus

1. Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun.

2. It has 11 invisible rings.

3. Clouds cover Uranus and that gives it a blue color.

Pluto

1. Pluto is not a planet any more. It is a dwarf planet.

2. On Pluto, the sun looks like a star.

3. Pluto is small.

Saturn

1. Saturn has many rings.

2. Saturn has lots of gas.

3. Saturn has about 18 moons.

Jupiter

1. Jupiter is the biggest planet.

2. Jupiter has 18 moons.

3. It takes Jupiter 12 years to go around the sun.

Mars

1. Mars is named after the god of war.

2. It is the red planet

3. Mars is the 4th planet from the sun.

Mercury

1. Mercury looks a lot like our moon. It has lots of craters.

2. Mercury is our smallest planet.

3. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun, so it is very hot during the day.

Neptune

1. Neptune is a gas giant.

2. Neptune’s atmosphere contains methane and that gives it it’s blue color.

3. Neptune is the 8th planet from the sun.

Easter Egg Hunt

I went to the easter egg hunt on Saturday March 15, 2008. I don't think they should call it a Hunt. I think they should call it Pick-Up -the-Easter-Eggs-As-Fast -As-You-Can, because the Easter Eggs were scattered everywhere. You could even see the sparkle eggs. I got a sparkle egg. While we were there my mom bought me a pretty blue necklace.

My animal report

Cheetahs
The cheetah is an interesting animal because the cheetah is the fastest land animal on earth. The cheetah runs on all fours. A cheetah’s long, long legs helps it take huge steps. The cheetah’s back is arched so it can help it jump farther. The cheetah has yellow fur. The baby cheetah’s fur is fluffy when it’s born. Cheetahs have black spots and black tear marks. The cheetahs belly fur is white. Cheetahs can’t roar. A mother cheetah calls her cubs with a chirping noise. The cheetah is from the mammal family. The cheetah breathes through its lungs like most mammals do. The cheetah gives live birth to live young. The young cheetahs are called cubs. Cheetah cubs’ eyes are closed for a week. Usually 1-6 cubs can be in a litter.

The cheetah cubs drink their mother’s milk for about six months. Cheetahs stay with their mothers for 14-18 months. Cheetah mothers have to protect their babies from lions, caracals, and large animals. The cheetah lives in grassy plains in Africa or Asia called a savanna that has small trees or shrubs to hide behind. The most number of cheetahs live in Namibia. Scientists think 2,500 cheetahs live in Namibia. The cheetah eats meat such as small hoofed animals. They hunt rabbits and some birds. They also eat antelope, zebras, hares, and wildebeest. Cheetahs bite their food on the neck to kill it. They may eat it then or may hide it and eat when they’re hungry.

The cheetah is endangered. Some reasons are: diseases, natural predators, loss of natural habitats, and poachers and other people who hunt them for skins and as trophies. There are some interesting facts about the cheetah. In India, a ruler kept over 1,000 cheetahs as pets! There is also a rare kind of cheetah called the king cheetah. The king cheetah’s fur looks different from other regular cheetahs. Black stripes run up and down the king cheetah’s fur. King cheetahs live in and around the African country of Zimbabwe.

I enjoyed learning about the cheetah. It is my one of my favorite animals. The cheetah is an interesting animal because it is beautiful and it is the fastest land animal on earth.

A ticket... Oh, no!

Now I better explain the ticket rule first. The ticket rule is when we don't follow the rules. Now I will list the color ticket and what we got it for.

Green ticket: please follow directions.
Red ticket: respect adults.
Orange ticket: follow school rules.
Yellow ticket: be kind to others.
Purple ticket: be responsible.
Blue ticket: respect others property.

I got the orange ticket. I kept tapping a boy in the back when he was talking while the lights were off, and kept putting my finger to my lips. The rule in the cafeteria is you have to be quiet. When a girl in my class was talking, I tapped her on the back. In class she told on me [like everybody] and said to the teacher that I was tapping her hard. When the teacher looked at me, I said that I didn't mean to tap her hard. [I am not lying]. After I got a ticket, my handwriting was a little sloppy because I was both mad and sad. When I was walking to my mom I got really nervous. I haven't gotten a ticket before. I calmed down later! Boy I never wanted a ticket!

No Helmet!

My mom and I were scrapbooking. When I was tired I asked my mom if I could bike then I noticed that the car was in the way and started to cry. After I was done crying I went outside and started riding. I fell down. Then I noticed I didn't have my helmet on. I ran inside and got my helmet. When I was done I told mom that I forgot my helmet and explained that I took my helmet inside and my friend said to leave it. I was lucky!

My Playdate with my Friend

I had a playdate with my friend. When we got home I asked my mom if we could have a candy. Mom said, "Only if you go outside and eat it." We were outside for almost all of our playdate. I said, "Let's wander around." My friend agreed. I took her to the garage last. She noticed some writing on the wall, then I noticed it. We thought it was a mystery. My mom said it was something else. There was a thing that said "have peace" and a thing that said "devil" and a thing that said OLY. We thought that OLY meant something. It was fun, scary, and interesting.

Hearing about Six-Flags Magic Mountain

I asked my friend, Rebecca, if there were a lot of hanging rides at Six-Flags. She said, "Yes!" I asked her if there were any, like, sitting down rides, and not hanging. She said, "There was a couple." She told me about a ride called "Riddler." She said that, when she was young she went on "Riddler" and she was sitting down because she was young enough to, and she said that the older people were standing up and not on the floor, and had their hands in the air. She talked about another ride, I forgot what it was called, but she said that she didn't know why it was called that name, and said that it was in a building and it was super fast. And kind of at the end they take off your seat belts automatically and you can't pull them back down. And I asked her if it was slow the rest of the ride. She said "Yes." She also said that on that ride, I forgot when, that there was a big drop. I think that was all she said. I kind of feel nervous, but I can't wait to go to Six-Flags, but I don't know when we are.

Webkinz charms

For Valentine's Day my parents gave me Webkinz charms to enter the charm forest. I have a hippo named Plumpy and Miss Birdy. Miss Bridy helps you to adopt a pet.

Create a Critter family night

At my school there was a family night. All the kids got to stuff a animal. There was a paper that we got to pick a critter. Here were are choices: Pinky bear, honey bear, polar bear, lab dog, pink poodle, unicorn, monkey, pig, tiger, two tone dog, dalmatian, black lab, calico kitty, bunny, and the frog. The people there only sold one frog. I got the dalmatian. My friend got the unicorn. My friend's sister got the calico kitty. The animals could come with clothes. But I didn't get clothes. We got to wear our pajamas and bring our blanket. It was fun!

Bike Riding

On Saturday I noticed that someone or something took off my training wheels. I soon learned that dad took off my training wheels. Later I asked if I can ride my bike. My mom said "I'm not going to come out there with you." But she came out anyways. On Monday I got it!

It was fun!

Webkinz home

For Christmas I got a Webkinz. There is a home for a pet, and it was not working but now it is working. My pet is a koala I named her Matilda. I love her! She's a girl. You drag the stuff in the room. You can only have the website for a year. It's a fun website!

Fun with Grandma!

I went to my Grandma's house when my mama went with my brother to get her college books. I went to the computer and Grandma watched me. I went to a website called Webkinz. Then we went shopping for me. I got new pajamas that say "Little Girl, Big Dreams." We went to McDonald's. We had a fun day.

I am reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and I have three chapters left. Happy 2008!
